It’s awards season, with the Critics Choice Awards and the Golden Globes having aired their 2026 winners, the Actor Awards is next to present its awardees.
Last Wednesday, SAG-AFTRA went live on YouTube to broadcast their nominees for the 32nd annual Actor Awards. “Abbott Elementary” comedian and actor Janelle James co-hosted with “Heated Rivalry” actor Connor Storrie, who announced a selection of nominated actors in 15 categories covering film and various television series.
Box office triumph “Sinners” received five nominations with films “Marty Supreme” and "Frankenstein" following with three nominations each. Other films and TV series will compete alongside these as the Actor Awards joins the season of award shows.
The award ceremony is scheduled to go live on Netflix Sunday, March 1 at 8 p.m. One winner is known, with the labor organization also planning to award longtime actor Harrison Ford with its greatest honor, the Life Achievement Award.
The Actor Awards were previously the Screen Actors Guild Awards, but have since simplified their name after an increase in viewer growth prompted by their 2024 ceremony streaming on Netflix.
"We wanted to provide clearer recognition in terms of what the show is about for our domestic and global audiences," said showrunner and executive producer Jon Brockett in a statement reported by E! Online.
According to Brockett, the name change will not affect their traditionally intimate award setting, and will maintain the largest deciding body among other award shows in the industry.
